Thank you for wanting to know a little about us and how why we decided to create this site.  Bear with me I will gradually make this site a bit fancier - I am still learning!

Thought I would finally write a few words about us finally!

My husband and I grew up in the San Luis Obispo area and only moved after we graduated from Cal Poly and had to go out into the real world and get jobs.  For us there were not any opportunities to stay in the area so we headed down south to Los Angeles.  I just mention were we grew up because I think it is interesting how it had absolutly nothing to do with how we got into wine even though it is wine country up there.

We actually starting drinking a bit of wine once we had moved down to Los Angeles and for some reason we started drinking reds.  We actually tried some whites but just didnt care for them.  We are both advid runners and thought it was cool that the track and field olympic trials had made their way to Sacramento in 2000.  We headed up for the races and realized that over the almost week long meet there were two days off in the middle of the week.  We decided to head over to Napa and stay a night.

Napa valley is amazing and beautiful and quite warm during the summer months but we had a great time.  We stayed at a bed and breakfast in napa and went running every morning.  I wish I had pictures of the house we had run by. It was on the corner and it was a dump (sorry to say!).  It was up for sale and we joked about we should buy it and fix it up, but of course we had no money for that.  Now almost every trip we head by to see how it looks.  Someone took our wonderful idea because the house is awesome and looks like it was converted to two rentals - one on the top floor and one on the bottom.

Ok, back to wine tasting.....we headed out to wineries for some tasting.  It was during that trip that we realized that white wine, like chardonnay, is actually quite good.  Wine tasting is great because you get exposed to differences in wine and that can open your eyes to more variety.  One place we did find that we loved is Mumm Champagne.  Part of why we like that place is because they have a great patio that over looks the vineyards, in fact the picture you see up above is one we took while sitting and sipping some bubbly.  We make a point to sip some sparkling wine on their patio every time we go.

So essentially that was the start of our drinking careers.  Now 9 years later I thought it would be cool to start writing about wines and our experiences while tossing in some review as well.

Born and raised in California, I love California wine, so come back often and see what we are up to.

Even though I love CA wine, I have to admit the French know what they are doing - some day I will write up our trip to France and the wine country we visted.

Oh and for those who are interested about the olympic trials they were AWESOME but way too hot!  The last race of the whole meet was the 400 meters with Michael Johnson running a 43.68- need I say more!
