2006 Petite Sirah from Line 39

I have never heard of this winery before.  During my recent trip to bevmo I was trying to find some everyday drinking wine and came across this Petite Sirah from Lake county which is next to Napa and Sonoma.  This wine is big and bold but very smooth.  Sometimes I find that Sirahs are a bit much for me with the tannins.  This wine however does not have it.  Although this wine is big I found that I could easily just drink it without paired with food.  That is a good test for me on a great wine.   5 out of 5 and a great deal for under $10.

Buena Vista Pinot Noir 2006

I don't think I have ever had a wine from Buena Vista Winery.  I am a huge fan of pinots and liked that this one was from the carneros region.  Apparently Buena Vista is one of the oldest wineries in California.  It has been around since 1857.  I am looking forward to heading up to Napa because I would love to visit this winery.

The Pinot is very light and fruity.  This isnt a huge pinot because it doesnt have alot of the spices that sometimes are characteristics of many of the Pinots I have tasted.

Excuse me now while I go pour myself a second glass!  Cheers!

Paso Creek Zinfandel 2006

So I decided to stop off at Bevmo after work to pick up some everyday drinking wine.  I browsed for a while and picked out a few varietals.  I don't believe I have every had a Paso Creek wine but I loved the label and decided to give it a try.

It is a bold Zinfandel with lots of spice and character.  There is fruit on the nose and a ton on the taste, which is why I really think I like it.  I love wine that isnt sweet but has a fruit flavor.  This wine it perfect for me, even without food to soften it is very enjoyable.  5 out 5

Edna Valley Chardonnay

I know I have mentioned this wine before, but it is truly becoming one of my favorites.  You can't beat the price at less then $9 a bottle at Vons - I think it may have been on sale though.  I like how toasty and carmel it tastes with a nice smooth finish.  For me this is a perfect wine for sitting my the fire on a cold night and red wine does not sound good.  It is a 5 out of 5 and I will always pick one up as I shop.

Lockwood Vineyards Block 7 Pinot Noir - 2007 from Montery

I have to admit this has been a hard emotional weekend for me.  Tonight I made salmon and I personally LOVE pinot noir with my salmon.  Tonight I went for a wine I have never tried before.  It is great.  At just over $12 a bottle it is very smooth.  For a pinot it just has a hint of spice under a berry flavor.  This  a 5 out of 5 and I would have to buy it again.

Ok so the picture above makes me wish I had a chair in the vineyards to drink and sip.
