What does the month of October mean:
In Latin it means the 8th month. This is interesting: in common years January starts on the same day of the week as October, but no other month starts on the same day of hte week as October in Leap Years.
Ok first off I am sorry I have not posted much this month. I have had alot going on but here I am finally ready to write out one of the wineries we were at on our trip up to San Luis wine country last month.
Domaine Alfred - Chamisal Vineyards
2007 Califa Chardonnay
Califa means the beautiful one and is used to designate more of their reserve wine. They wanted to be a little different then all the other wineries that just say reserve. This Chardonnay was very good. It was buttery with a hint of toasted nuts.
This winery was nice. We sat outside on their patio to sip our tasting and they kept coming out to check to us and pour us more wine. Who can complain about that? Not I!
The picture above was the patio we sat on, and I have no idea who the lady is expect that her and husband were members.

Wow I can't believe this year is going by so fast. October is known for many octoberfest celebrations. But there are also many harvest events for Wine. If you are in Paso Robles on October 16-18 there is a Wine Harvest weekend. Visit pasowine.com
