On July 6th, 2009 we headed up to Solvang area for some wine tasting. We went to several wineries with Mosby the second stop of the day. The winery is full of personality.
When we first got there the husband had to use the restroom. It is a huge wine barrel, that he said was neat. You could see through the slats, it was very rustic and had spiders webs to add more character. Next time I need to get a picture. I don't know what I was thinking, I didn't bring my camera with me!
A small run place, we walked into the tasting room feeling right at home. Behind the counter was a gentleman full of great stories and one liners to keep you thinking and smiling.
The wines are excellent. They were running a carry over special from the fourth of july that if you bought any combination of the 3 or just all of 1 of them to make a case you got 50% off. We of course had to take advantage. We are always on the look out for great everyday wines and to get 50% off decent prices was awesome!
The wines themselves were beautiful. We are expanding our horizons and love the italian varietals. You don't find alot of wineries in California (or at least I havent yet) that do this style. We had visited a winery many years ago that was owned by Robert Mondavi winery and they had Italian style wines, but they sold that winery shortly after we were there.
Click this link for a listing of the wines they have to offer direct from the winery. One is even made in Italy and brought to the winery.
We had a great time and would love to go back!
