What does the month of August mean:
In Pagan history August is the start of Lughnasadh which is the signal of the harvest.

Cline Syrah is a very decent wine. It doesn't have the smell that I love in a wine though it is sort of more of prune smell. However the taste is more of cherries. The husband says he thinks it taste like the prune but when you add some chocolate to it (chocolate chips to be exact) it makes it more like a chocolate covered cherry. Very nice for its price. 3 out of 5.

I don't think Greg Norman makes a bad wine, I really don't. We have had a few and tonight it is the 07 Cab. I have to say I am liking it. And you can't deny the price point either. His wines are smooth and drinkable. The smell is dried fruit and berries, not sweet but fruity. The taste keeps that bold dried fruit flavor and a hint of oak - hint of tannins as well for a drier feel but keeps it smooth and gives it character. I am begining to think that this golfer's wine will be in our every day drinking category. It is hard to find a decent wine for a decent price that you really want to come back to, but I am thinking anything by Mr. Norman would be it. 5 out of 5.

2002 Grgich Hills Cabernet
We finally got the chance to go out to dinner last Friday
night. We went to a restaurant down the
street from our house that we usually go to and we brought a bottle of
wine. We decided to bring the 2002
Grgich Cabernet from the Napa
Valley. I had a gorgonzola bacon wrapped stuffed
filet and it was yummy! It paired nicely
with this wine. The smoky flavor of the
bacon and the sharpness of the cheese brought out some cedar and smokiness in
the taste of the wine. The end was smooth
but a hint of tannins. I have to stay
this was a great meal with a fabulous wine. 4 out of 5. Try out some great Grgich wines here!

Shame on me it has yet again been way too long since I have updated. Ok - this past weekend was great. We went out to dinner on Friday night and then to a BBQ on Saturday. The BBQ was great we had hamburgers and salad and two very good wines. The hostess pulled out a Duel from Darioush and of course I had my glass ready! Darioush is great winery up in Napa. They make a great reds. This was a 2006 Cabernet Shiraz Blend and it was yummy. The finish was creamy and the taste was vanillas and cherry. It would have to be a 5 out of 5. I only wish there were less people drinking it!

So we ended July with a great wine from a great Winery - Terra Valentine and this is how we are starting off the month of August! To celebrate harvest we have whole wheat pasta, homemade bread and of course great wine. We opened a bottle of Terra Valentine and of course it did not disappoint. Spring Mountain seems to be yet another mountain that is amazing.
Someday I hope to be able to pin point the smells and taste of what makes the wine from "spring mountain". This wine is no exception. It is very smooth and very drinkable. If we had a second bottle I bet we would have opened it.
Terra Valetine makes an excellent, smooth amazing wine! 10 out of 5....sorry I can't help it :) Here is the start to a great month.
